Keratoma is a problem of many people nowadays. It appears mostly after long standing on the sun unprotected and due to permanent skin traumatizing (such rubbing, aggressive scrabbling). The definition of keratoma is skin growth due to thickening and layering of epidermal cells. It manifests itself in the form of spots, nodes and crusts and it is not malignant itself, but it can deteriorate and degenerate. Important is to make differential diagnosis with other "look alike types" and more serious types melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. To make difference is sometimes is difficult even for pathologist. The main view and key of keratoma, that is favorable, that it grows mostly after sun exposure or mechanical impact, slowly, years and does not have ulcer or any open lesions around or inside. It can be alone or together with solar lentigo, which looks similar but the difference is that it appears only after solar exposure.
Before to start to get rid of it, it is essential to visit Dermatologist or Oncologist and to exclude it from "looks alike", otherwise further actions can lead to irreversible damages and sometimes to fatal conditions.
There are many ways how to get rid of it. First and the most is to remove it with laser in the clinic. This way is fast but it can give side effects of spotting, redness and scarring of the place. Also scarring itself is predisposition to turn to the recurrence of keratoma. So this method at the moment is disputable. Another methods so called "folk" are mainly include usage of castor, camphor oil, apple vinegar, bicarbonate, iodine, coconut oil, aloe vera /tuia occidentalis (both tincture and fresh) are weak and do not remove keratoma fully.
At some point it was used Feresol (it is phenol chemical substance) . Phenol is very toxic: If the drug gets on a large area of the skin surface, chemical burns and general intoxication of the body are possible. Its contact with eyes and mucous membranes must be avoided by all means due to irreversible damage. Therefore treatment with Feresol is NOT recommended either.
It should be kept in mind that there are several types of keratomas that differ from each other in some ways. Common signs are dark brown or brown color and soreness, but they differ in shape. Seborrheic and senile keratomas are composed of a series of fractals that can be associated with small, indistinct hemispheres. The hemispheres are quite close to each other and to the skin. There is no skin under the central part of the keratoma. It has been determined that keratomas, as well as malignant tumors, are actively affected by some herbal poisons, which allows us to draw some parallels between them. Here I want to introduce completely new treatment - painless and harmless comparing with above-mentioned methods. The treatment is based on the application of specific plants. One of them is Colchicum autumnale ,poisonous plant which contain Colchicine, which is known in official pharmacopeia as a first line for Gout treatment. The properties of colchicine are known, which is a mitotic poison and is contained in the autumn crocus. It delays the depletion of chromosomes, which interferes with cell segmentation.
Another component is Phellinus tuberculosus/linteus (Plum tinder fungus), the fungus- parasite which "lives" on the plum trees mostly. Family of tinder fungus are known by the anticancer effects. The most famous along them is chaga or Inonotus obliquus which is used for therapy for lung and breast cancer. Phellinus tuberculosus inhibit cell growth and invasion and induce apoptosis of epidermal carcinoma cell.
Both plants are working synergistic and potent each other.
The proposed method is painless, reproducible, simple to implement. The method is carried out as follows: when preparing the tincture, precautions should be taken: the stem, leaves and flowers of the crocus, which is a poisonous plant, should be cut with gloves. The leaves, stems and flowers of the crocus are dried in a dark place warming up from the sun's rays, for example, in the attic, for 10-25 days. Crushed, poured into glassware and poured with alcohol in a ratio of 4 tbsp. spoons of the dried collection for 150 ml of pure medical alcohol. The vessel is tightly closed and kept in a dark, dry place for 2 weeks. In the same way, a tincture is made from dried pieces of plum tinder fungus. When mixing the resulting tinctures for 1 tbsp. spoon of colchicum tincture add 3 ÷ 4 drops of tinder fungus tincture.
If it is necessary to prepare the tincture in a larger volume, the following mixture is taken - 45 g of dry autumn crocus and 5 g of dry plum tinder fungus per 150 g of medical alcohol or smaller amounts of components, depending on the need.
The tincture mixture is applied with a thin brush to the keratoma. In this case, the application is carried out on the skin area 1.5 -2.0 mm from the edge of the keratoma in order to completely cover the tumor. The applied layer is dried, its components crystallize in the upper layers of the keratoma. After the first layer (Crocus) has dried, the second (plum tinder) is applied. Application cycles are carried out for 5 days, once a day. After complete degradation (destruction) of the keratoma, its remnants are carefully removed with a cotton swab. If there is a permanent residue, the application of the tinctures should be continued 5 more days (10 days in total).
Most important to remember that both components are poisonous, therefore it is for EXTERNAL usage ONLY.
If you cant find the Crocus, you can use Colchine tablets (1 mg) from pharmacy mixed with sweet almond oil or any other hydrophilic oil in proportion to make 1%- ointment. Apply once a day for 5- 10 days.
If you cant find Crocus either Colchine tablets, then you may replace it with Piroxicam cream, which is another one famous and old anti inflammatory but with similar anti tumoral effects. However applications should be held until full recovery and 5 days after to fix the result.
